If you are unaware of what is triggering your emotions in your life, it is a good idea to track them. There are many apps on the market nowadays, where you can track your emotional state day by day.
However, I prefer to use pen and paper. If you feel this is more suitable you will use a more tactile sense. This way you can play around by using different coloured pencils or pens to tailor the colour to your emotions.
You may like to use a pad of graph paper for example, however, any kind of paper will do. I feel making a chart yourself connects you deeper to your feelings, the experience is more visceral.
If you have the pad next to your bed or in the living area and a bag of coloured pens, you can really bring your awareness of your emotional patterns to life.
I have provided an example that was created on a spreadsheet (example given here), which you can also do.
It is helpful to make notes of any significant events that happen throughout the month. Your monthly period for example, or a stressful time, anything that affects your mood.
